Swimming Lessons

Welcome to Active Aqua School...

We are currently embarking on a change within our swimming lesson programme. 

Our swimming lessons are based on the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) produced by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).  This plan has been updated and in order to offer teaching in line with the ASA we will be following the new programme. 

Your child's ‘Journey through Swimming' will be enhanced with the new programme as there will be progressive stepping stones along the way and more opportunities later on to take part in more variety of activities and other water based sports.

Rookies Course Starting at Longwell Green Leisure Centre

Are you aged 8-14 years? Can you swim 25m plus?

New Courses at Thornbury Leisure Centre
Thornbury will be running Award of Merit - Junior Lifesaving for teenagers 14 years+, they must currently hold Bronze Medallion. Please contact Gill Johnson for more information on 01454 865778.

With more than 4,500 people learning to swim with us every week we are the biggest and best swimming school in South Gloucestershire. Over the last 20 years we have taught in excess of 150,000 people to swim; from beginners, to improvers, to advanced.  We are also the biggest trainer of Lifeguards in the area too! We also provide swimming lessons for children in the region though the school swimming programme.

We have more than 100 qualified teachers and our pools and lessons are for everyone; we have countless stories about people who learnt to swim in their later years, people who'd been frightened of the water, talented youngsters who now swim like dolphins; we've even got some heading towards the Olympics and Paralympics with Team GB!

Whether you want to swim just so you can enjoy the beach or pool more whilst on holiday, are committed to your child's safety and want them to have this crucial life-skill, swim for fitness, or just love potter about in the water, our lessons are for you.

How to start?
Just pop into your local Leisure centre or call to speak with one of our Customer Service Advisors or Swimming Coordinators; we will to discuss how we can help you achieve you or your childs goals. We operate a waiting list system to ensure our customers get on to lessons as soon and as fairly as possible.
