CRB Guidelines

Disclosure of Criminal Background
Guidelines for Candidates

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.  If you are successful in obtaining this post, you will be required to authorise a Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau based on the level of access to children or vulnerable adults.  Refusal to do so will prevent further consideration of your application for this post.  Any information received from the Criminal Records Bureau will be treated in the strictest confidence and will be destroyed when the selection process is completed.

Having a criminal record will not exclude you from appointment, unless it is considered that the conviction renders you unsuitable for appointment.  In reaching this decision factors such as, the nature of the offence, how long ago it was committed and how old you were at the time will be taken into consideration.

Under the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000, it is a criminal offence if an individual who is disqualified from working with children knowingly applies for, offers to do, accepts or does any work with children.

Any employee in a Regulated Position or who works in a Regulated Establishment who is convicted of a criminal offence or receives a caution once employed, must inform their HR Manager/Advisor immediately.  Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action which could lead to dismissal.

If you would like to discuss in confidence (or anonymously if you prefer) whether you have a conviction and/or whether it would exclude you from working with those under 18 or vulnerable adults, you are welcome to telephone Gemma Morgan, HR Manager 01454 867061 .

This will not be part of the interview process.

The Leisure Trust will require you to produce evidence of identification. All of the following which are applicable to you, should be brought to the interview:- Birth Certificate, Passport, Driving Licence, Marriage Certificate, National Insurance Number plus at least two documents showing your current address.

A full copy of the Leisure Trust's policy on Employing People with Criminal Convictions is available on request to the HR Manager/Advisor.  This policy is in accordance with the CRB Code of Practice which is also available on request.
