Refurbishment of Overhead Electricity Lines - statement from Electricity Alliance

As part of the project to refurbish the overhead electricity line that runs between Iron Acton and Whitson, the Electricity Alliance will start working around Thornbury Leisure Centre. The work will involve replacing the overhead transmission lines that run through the Leisure Centre's car park and is expected to be completed by early summer 2008.  During this time, it is likely that you will notice activity around the Centre.

Safety is our priority and we aim to keep disruption to users of the Leisure Centre and to the environment to a minimum during this essential work. We have been liaising closely with the Leisure Centre where information will be available if the public has any queries.

The Electricity Alliance is a partnership between National Grid, Babcock, Amec and Mott McDonald.  This project forms part of National Grid's ongoing maintenance programme to ensure a continued safe and reliable electricity network.

If you would like any further information, please call the Electricity Alliance community relations team on 0800 073 1047 or chekc out their information leaflet.
